Root canal treatment is a procedure that removes the inflamed or infected nerve from a tooth, a common cause for toothaches, while preserving the tooth itself in the mouth. It involves removing the nerve, disinfecting the canals inside the roots, then filling the canals with a rubbery material called gutta percha.

In some cases, teeth need to be removed if they are infected, damaged beyond repair, or impacted. At our office, we would examine the area of concern and review any available alternatives to extraction. If you decide to proceed, we would administer topical and local anesthesia. Different techniques are used to carefully loosen and remove the tooth as atraumatically as possible.
