Implants
Revitalize Your Smile
We offer our patients dental implants as one of the solutions to replace missing teeth. In more complex cases, we work with specialists to provide you with implants that would best restore function and esthetics.

A dental implant is a post, usually made of titanium, that is placed into the jaw to act as an artificial root. After the implant is placed, it is usually left to fuse with the bone for 4-6 months before an implant crown (the part of the tooth you see in the mouth) is installed and the implant restoration is complete. In some cases, temporary crowns or dental appliances can be placed to fill in the missing space while the implant is integrating. Multiple implants can also be placed and restored with implant bridges or dentures.

Dental implants are one of the best ways to replace a missing tooth as it best mimics a natural tooth with its own supporting root (the implant) and crown. Like a natural tooth, a dental implant uses the underlying jawbone for support and does not place added stress to other teeth like other replacement options (dentures or bridges). It is more comfortable and does not move around like a denture and is more easily cleaned than a conventional bridge. Implants are also not susceptible to cavities.
However, implants can still be affected by gum disease and lost if not maintained well. Implants can also fracture or loosen if they are subject to overly high bite forces or grinding. They are also more costly to place compared to dentures or bridges. During our exam and consultation, we will inform you of the relative factors specific to your mouth and discuss which option may be best suited for your specific needs.
